Reducing the Amount of Characters

,
At the moment I have eight archetypal characters which for the purposes of this project is too much. I need to reduce this number so I can focus more on the important elements and quality instead of quantity.

Luckily some of my character archetypes are relatively similar, therefore I can reduce the number by selecting one out of each type. Below is each pair of archetypes and the similarities that they share.
  • Maiden vs. Child - Both generally innocent, vulnerable characters. Favoured by the audience.
  • Trickster vs. Shapeshifter - Devious, cunning. Both have a selfish agenda and only care about themselves. Can be good or evil.
  • Astronomer vs. Wise Old Man - Knowledgeable characters. Someone to go to for advice.
I have narrowed my character list down to the following five;
  1. Mother Nature
  2. Maiden
  3. The Hunter
  4. Trickster
  5. Wise Old Man
