Glossary of Terms (dictionary definitions)

A Priori :
  1. Relating to or denoting reasoning or knowledge that proceeds from theoretical deduction rather than from observation or experience.
Aesthetics :
  1. A set of principles concerned with the nature and appreciation of beauty, esp. in art.
  2. The branch of philosophy that deals with the principles of beauty and artistic taste.
Appeal
  1. The power of attracting or of arousing interest.
Art :
  1. The expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture,...: "the art of the Renaissance"
  2. Works produced by such skill and imagination.
Beauty :
  1. A combination of qualities, such as shape, color, or form, that pleases the aesthetic senses, esp. the sight.
  2. A combination of qualities that pleases the intellect or moral sense.
Style :
  1. A manner of doing something.
  2. Design or make in a particular form.

Taste :
  1. The ability to make discerning judgments about aesthetic, artistic, and intellectual matters; discrimination combination of qualities, such as shape, color, or form, that pleases the aesthetic senses, esp. the sight.
Visual :
  1. Of or relating to seeing or sight: "visual perception".
  2. A picture, piece of film, or display used to illustrate or accompany something.
