Observational notes on Visual breakdowns

,
When creating the breakdowns of each artist I tried to make these as informative and specific as possible. I did this by imagining I was creating a guide or set of rules for another artist to follow if they were to trying to recreate each visual style, having never seen it before. I found using this method quickly helped me discover the elements I had missed.

From my breakdowns, it has become more evident that the line between the visual style itself and the content of a piece can become very blurred. I found this to such a great extent that I was unable to truly describe the overall visual style being portrayed without first describing the subject matter of the work.

Previously I had felt it would be interesting to discover the contrast between the visual style and the content of an image. However, from this exercise it has become clear to me that they both rely on each other heavily to create an overall visually appealing piece.
