Research Proposal Plan

,
I have begun planning out my Research Proposal so I can hopefully get a few redrafts done before final submission. Using the lecture notes I have been writing up has made this process substantially easier as I have been gradually building up my understanding of my methodologies and framework for the project.

Research Paradigm
Construtivism
Ontology - Meaning does not exist in its own right; rather it is constructed by human beings as they interact and engage in interpretation
Epistemology - Subjectivity is embedded in research process. Result of interaction between inquirer and inquired.
Methodology - Qualitative methods (hermeneutic)

OR

Performativism (Suggestion of an artistic paradigm by Dr. Robin Sloan)
Ontology - Meaning can be derived form the contextually aware iterative creation of artefacts/performances, and subsequent critical reflection on both the outcomes and the process.
Epistemology - Subjectivity is embedded in the research process as the research is the result of interaction between the inquirer and the inquired.
Methodology - Practice-based methods.
Using Blooms Taxonomy I have established that my project currently standing in an iterative process of knowledge, application, analysis until I have gained sufficient understanding. At this stage I will move on to synthesis.

Project Aim: (To be further refined)

This research aims to investigate the influence of different visual styles on the appeal of a scene.

Objectives: (open to change as project develops)
  1. Define aesthetic theory and how this is applied to create visual appeal
  2. Create my interpretations of each visual style
  3. Analyse the relationship between visual styles and their aesthetic appeal
  4. Applying the knowledge gained, create my own interpretations of each visual style to see if the appeal has changed.
Previous Tasks
14.  Write: Make notes on findings.
15.  Read: Research the topic of aesthetics.
16.  Write: Choose key philosophers in subject and break down their viewpoint on topic.
17.  Write: Plan out proposal.
