Yesterday was my first progress presentation of the year. The purpose of these presentations is to show my peers and lecturers the progress I have made thus far in my project. We then receive feedback on areas we can improve and how we can progress further from this point.
Feedback
The feedback I received was positive and I was assured I am not doing the wrong thing or incredibly behind. In order to gain feedback from my first media test I was advised that forums are in fact a great way to discover mass opinion into a topic therefore this could be a viable method to use, so long as I was able to back it up with other methods as well. Another way in which I can gain insights into others opinions of visual appeal is through previous surveys accumulated on metacritic websites.
In general, I was told that by the end of my project I would likely have research into philosophers ideas of aesthetics and the will create my own view point and standing on the topic. I can then use this to back up any case studies I create or when critiquing my own work.
Reflection
Overall, I feel my presentation went well and it was nice to receive the reassurance that I am in fact on the right track with my project so far. I also now have a clearer idea as to the direction in which my project should move forward.
On a personal note, I had not anticipated the amount of feedback I would receive at the time and as a result I had to write down everything I could remember after my presentation. I feel next time I would benefit greatly from bringing a notepad and pen or alternatively my dictaphone.
